A new building and the remodeled Brahmshaus will house the high school level of the Rudolf Steiner School Zurich. The Brahmshaus presents a special challenge, since it calls for reconciling opposing demands. On the one hand, the classrooms require a certain room depth, on the other hand, it makes sense to restore the interiors according to historic preservation principles. Specifically, this means preserving the existing staircase and the characteristic central corridor structure, as well as uncovering and restoring many high-quality surfaces—in this way, the object is unexpectedly brought back to shine.
